ReDoCO2 møde in Hejmdal

Wednesday, February 07, 2024

The ReDoCO2 consortium meet up in the Hejmdal conference house (Aarhus University) in Aarhus, Denmark to get up to date on the work packages and see where we are standing.

After a general walkthrough of and update on all Work packages we got deeper insights into the Danish National Peatland Mapping Project by Amelie Beucher. Furthermore, Henrik Vest Sørensen from Naturstyrelsen came over to give a talk on current efforts of renaturation and flooding of agriculturally used peatland areas for the reduction of CO2 emissions and the involved needs for detailed mapping.

In the afternoon we split up into smaller groups for in-depth discussion on the different topics and focus areas of ReDoCO2. Engaged conversations and brainstorming let the time fly by far too fast. The results obtained to date are highly satisfactory and we are looking to improve them even further in this joint academic and private industry effort.

It was great to see everyone again and spend this productive and insightful day together. We are looking forward to the new mapping season and more excellent results of our consortium, now aiming for demonstration the project outcome in larger mapping projects!
